Watch the same auctions for a few weeks and a pattern shows up. The buyers who consistently land the lots they wanted, at prices they are glad about, share a handful of habits. None of them are complicated.
1. They bid their maximum early
Setting a true maximum on day one means the system defends the lot for them while they get on with their week. It also settles ties in their favour, because the earlier maximum keeps the lead.
2. They read the grade like a contract
Gently used and Used are different promises. The buyers who are never surprised at the counter are the ones who match the grade to what they need, not to what they hope.

3. They turn on text alerts
An outbid email is easy to miss at 4 pm on a Tuesday. A text is not. Alerts are opt-in and only fire for lots you bid on, when you are outbid, when you win, and about your pickup.
You can switch text alerts on in the account popup when you register, or later in My account. No spam, only your lots.
4. They watch the whole auction, not one lot
Each auction closes its lots one minute apart. If lot 3 runs away from you, lot 7 might be the same category at a quieter price. Open the auction page and keep the list in view.
5. They book pickup the same day they pay
Slots fill. The buyers who book right after paying get the window they want; the ones who wait end up choosing between a Tuesday morning and a week later.
The good lots are not hidden. They are just closing while someone else is deciding.

Quick answers
Does bidding early push the price up?
No. The price only moves when another bidder pushes it. Your maximum stays private.
How do I know if I am winning?
Cards show a green ‘You lead’ mark, and the My bids icon in the header counts your open lots.
What happens right when I win?
An invoice with a payment link arrives by email within a minute of the close.
